UNFPA trains health statisticians Ashgabat, 25 April 2009 – The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan completed today a five-day training course for national specialists of health statistics departments from Ashgabat and five velayats.  

During the training course participants have learned to operate Microsoft Access, build database, make database queries, develop reports and tables, insert and import data from other applications and databases. The training was facilitated by leading specialists-certified master trainers of Information Technologies Department of the State Statistics Committee who applied effective training methods to make the course participatory and interactive.   

This activity has been organized within the UNFPA and the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry joint project TKM2P102 aimed at introduction of international standards into population and reproductive health data collection, analysis and dissemination. Participants will apply knew knowledge for building health data bases and using data for planning and reporting purposes.
